All she can accomplish is reaching out with her arms, a half-formed thought of something between catching the Pokemon and defending her face. And then she's hit and thrown backward, crying out in unison with her Pokemon.
Nidoqueen's toxic spines manage to break Hikari's skin upon impact. She doesn't know if she's actually poisoned or not - she can't tell like a Pokemon could - but she's definitely bleeding and winded. She stays still for a few moments, trying to catch her breath.
And then she recalls the 'Queen, standing back up slowly. She has to keep going. She has no choice.]
